The countdown begins, and the work is forming...

I make work bordering upon system and chaos, logic and dysfunction. The work incites a questioning and confrontation with purpose, thought and influence. Working with familiar non-precious materials; paper, thread, sugar, staples etc, allows for a relationship synonymous with mark, and an exploration in metaphorical value of the functional. The work aims to create a contemplative space for the viewer. In an obsessive interaction with the controlled variable: White.
White is the visual framework of my practice; it attempts absence of reality in the creation of a space in-between conflicting thoughts.
‘white can be seen as the basic form of life or information that emerges from chaos; it is that extreme form of negative entropy that is bound and determined to make clean escape’- Kenya Hara, White
My practice is influenced by a fascination with theories of understanding, of our Universe and existence within it; this harks back to a naivety but an interest in all things, or in things unknown. This space between knowledge, of things intangible and incomprehensible is the exact area in which my practice sits.
